ABOUT OUR VOLUNTARY TEAM
Message from Max Eames
The College has an extensive team of volunteers, without whom the College would struggle to deliver its ongoing services to the public. From sound-checks done prior to our evening lectures to minor roofing repairs and much in between the College owes a great deal to those who give of their time freely in service to the work we do.
Indeed the contribution made by volunteers spans across the entire organisation. The College’s charitable trustees, including the President, the Vice Presidents, the Treasurer and the Company Secretary are all volunteers. The CDs and cassette recordings we sell of our lectures are dubbed by volunteers. The work of the healing clinics, including outreach work in the community, is done by volunteers. Many of our workshops and events, both weekday and weekend, are facilitated by volunteers. Even the watering of our plants and cleaning out the gutters after an interminable winter is done by volunteers.
There are volunteer receptionists, qualified healers, accredited psychotherapists, spiritual teachers, sensitives and mediums. There are those that assist with proofreading, with research, with building repairs, with shopping for sundries and supplies, with specifying equipment, with project-management of repairs, and with the College’s need to conform to statutory obligations.
We have been fortunate to draw upon the experience of solicitors, chartered architects, company directors, software programmers, sound-engineering specialists, accountants, playwrights, editors, authors, catering specialists, investment analysts, graphic artists and the like. You might be surprised at how your skills would make a contribution.
But it’s not all ‘giving’, and no ‘getting’. There is a strong sense of community, of a team, at the College. Many have made strong friendships and built longstanding support networks through volunteering. Others have made valuable contributions to the planning and implementation of our termly programme of events. It is also a chance to be at the heart of some of our lectures and workshops; many times your contribution would necessitate that you attend the entirety of an event one you would also enjoy as a participant.
Whether you have a few extra hours in a week, you possess a set of skills that might assist the College in its services, or you simply have an affinity for the work we do, we would be pleased to hear from you.
We would be grateful if you were to consider using the template we supply under the RECRUITMENT heading Submitting an Expression of Interest Speculatively. This can be conveniently sent as an email attachment to volunteers@collegeofpsychicstudies.co.uk. This assists us greatly, and quickens our reply to you. Alternatively you can simply send an email to volunteers@collegeofpsychicstudies.co.uk, using “VOLUNTEERS” as your subject heading, or fax it to 0800-471-5094.
Receiving your correspondence electronically quickens the review process and enables us to share your submission electronically using email.
Thank you for expressing an interest in contributing to the work of the College of Psychic Studies.
In the meantime, all the very best to you,
Max Eames
