It is with deep gratitude and love that we announce the retirement of our beloved tutor, Anthony Kesner, from his role as senior tutor at The College of Psychic Studies, following his diagnosis with motor neurone disease.

Hundreds of College students have trained under Anthony's exacting and encouraging approach, among them our own principal, Gill Matini. His influence runs through the College community and beyond, with his insistence on clarity and strong evidence setting a benchmark for excellence in mediumship.

Anthony's journey in the spiritual world began at just five years old. While in hospital having his tonsils removed, he experienced a vivid dream: his father being taken up to heaven by two angels. The vision was crystal clear. That night, his father passed away at the age of 41.

Over the years that followed, Anthony continued to experience visions of remarkable accuracy. In 1990, feeling called to develop this ability, he joined The College of Psychic Studies as a student. He trained under the guidance of long-standing College tutors Robin Winbow and Gerrie March, and emerged as a skilled medium.

In 2000, Anthony returned to The College of Psychic Studies as a tutor. It is in this role that so many of us have come to know and respect him. For more than two decades, he has guided students through mediumship development courses and workshops, from beginner to advanced levels. His passion has always been clear: to bring out the very best in every student and to help shape professional mediums of the future. He has also inspired many with his demonstrations and private sittings, consistently presenting remarkable evidence of life beyond death.

While we are deeply saddened that motor neurone disease has made it necessary for Anthony to step back from teaching, we choose to celebrate a career defined by service and an unwavering dedication to Spirit and to his students. Anthony's legacy is not only in the hundreds of mediums he has trained, but in the exacting standards he upheld. His contribution to The College of Psychic Studies is immeasurable.

On behalf of the entire College community, past and present students, fellow tutors, staff and council, we extend our heartfelt gratitude. Anthony, we honour your work and your extraordinary commitment to the path of mediumship.

If you would like to share your memories, messages and gratitude for Anthony on this page, please email them to admin@collegeofpsychicstudies.co.uk with 'Anthony Kesner' in the subject line, and we will add your tribute below.

From Gill Matini, College Principal: "It is with such great fondness that I remember my advanced mediumship classes with Anthony. I learnt so much during that time and made some wonderful friends along the way. I will never forget the terror of standing in front of the class and, with Anthony's steady encouragement, being asked to give messages – and then the wonderful feeling when a message truly resonated with its recipient. Anthony's passion has always been evident, and his skill is something I deeply admire. I never imagined then that one day I would become Principal of this extraordinary College, nor that I would have the privilege of working alongside Anthony in a different capacity. It has been a pleasure."

From Gerrie March, Anthony's tutor: "Devoted to his work as a medium, unswerving in his search for evidence of survival and a warm human personality is what I will always be grateful for in my friendship with Anthony. We share both happy and sad memories over the long period of knowing each other. It is a great comfort to both of us to know that life will continue when the body is gone and that our friendship will be renewed, and the laughter continue!"

From Gary Wright, senior tutor and Anthony's student: "I first met Anthony in a interview for a intermediate class. I was struck by his kindness and straight-forwardness. I said, 'Do you think I will be able to do this?' He said, 'You'll be brilliant, go and pay.' He never let that belief in me go out. Watching Anthony work was the most inspiring experience. He remains as one of the most special platform mediums, connecting thousands of people to their loved ones. For me, Anthony was the perfect teacher. He bought structure and support. He was always encouraging and let me find my own style to my mediumship. As I moved into becoming a consultant and a tutor, his support remained. He was extremely encouraging to those I trained who now work at the College. Meeting Anthony changed the direction of life and I am eternally grateful to know him. He remains a elegant spirit and a fantastic man."

From Avril Price, tarot tutor: "I have great respect and admiration for Anthony. He has been a warm and sincere colleague at the College. I know very many people, both students and sitters, who have benefitted from his skills, talent and wisdom. Mediumship is all the more something brilliant and wonderful because of Anthony."

From Angela Watkins: "Dear Anthony, What a really special and selfless spiritual man you are. Whilst teaching at the College for 18 years I felt blessed to know your continual dedication to spirit. When referring future students to you, I would be assured that they would be professionally trained and guided. We will always need excellent platform mediums who can work in the churches to inspire and uplift the congregations who attend. To be able to open and close a service with a prayer followed by an inspired address and who are able to give evidence of survival from their deceased loved ones this ability through professional training is such a comfort especially to those who grieve. It was a pleasure to have met you Anthony I wish you a peaceful retirement. With best love Angela Watkins"

From Maira Hamid: "It's been a pleasure having been under your tutelage. You have touched my life in a beautiful way. You are a great healer and a wise sage. Wishing you strength, good health and happiness. Happy retirement and brighter days ahead. All the best wishes to you and your family. Love and blessings, Maira xxx"

From Arlete Fortes: "Thank you, Anthony. I wish you all the best in this new 'retirement' adventure and with managing motor neurone disease. I only had two classes with you but your energy in leading the group made it memorable and I still use your opening and closing meditations. Best of luck and lots of love, Arlete"

From Marianne Hélène A: "Anthony has been my favourite tutor at the College of Psychic Studies. I really really liked him, his approachable way of teaching, his kindness, his mediumship classes. Actually, I can still remember, even more than 10 years later, during one of the workshops, he asked me (he could sense deep inside me I wanted to 'dare' to do it, without expressing it clearly), yes he asked me to stand up on the platform delivering messages... I FELT SOOO EMPOWERED! I HAD NEVER FELT THAT IN MY LIFE! "I CAN DO IT!!!" Anthony really brought my skills and talents out, to use in this world. Out of my 15 years of 'studying' in the spiritual field, at the College and in various places, I still have the image of me on this platform having an audience! When I want a 'confidence boost' in my life, I have got this image of myself in this situation... All that lead me to... this. I am about to publish my book (in the spiritual field) and it's just the beginning of a new journey, being in service in this world! I feel so much gratitude, and I feel so honoured to have known Mister Kesner! A great Man ! A Beautiful Soul!"

From Teresa Grubman: "I'm sad to see Anthony go, but I wish him all the best in retirement! I took a workshop with him, and it was a very memorable, meaningful experience which has stayed with me, and made a profound, moving impression on me regarding mediumship. I'm only sorry I didn't get to participate in more of his classes. My stays in London are shorter than I like, and sometimes I can't do online because of the six hour time difference. Thank you for a touching experience, and all the wonderful work you've done. Love, light and peace."

From Pippa Middlemiss: "Dear Anthony, I read today about your retirement. I know how much your classes and students meant to you and so I was sadden by the news. You have displayed great courage and generosity in your teaching and determination to carry on, no matter what. I enjoyed your classes and your guidance. I felt I developed a lot. I wanted to expand in different ways and so took a break from the college. I shall return. I wish you all the best on your next steps in your journey and hope that you find the strength and grace you need. Blessings and love, Pippa"

From Jane Brinklow: "I was deeply saddened by the news that Anthony Kesner is retiring, I was tutored by this wonderful man in 2010 to 2011. He brought the best out in me as a medium and inspired me. I wish Anthony a wonderful retirement and I hope it filled with love and peace. I sorry it took this news for me to get back In touch with you. I once gave Anthony a reading about his mother. He asked me if he should stay on as a teacher or try something new, I said, stay because you are good at teaching. I send my love and my thoughts are with you."

From Kellan Peavy, USA: "I feel incredibly fortunate to have participated in several of Anthony's courses. I credit him with giving me the confidence to be "bold, confident, and matter-of-fact"—as he so often reminded us in his opening meditations. Under his guidance, I watched my abilities truly blossom. Where I once dreaded being called upon, I learned to trust myself, embrace the moment, and welcome the challenge. He recognized mediumistic abilities in me at times when I doubted myself most.  Anthony is one of my favourite instructors, and I credit him greatly for both my arrival on this path and my stick-to-itiveness along the way. Always gracious, always generous, and deeply encouraging, his presence and teaching have left a lasting impact on my life and work. As he steps into retirement, I hold immense gratitude and respect for all that he has shared. I wish him comfort, peace, and gentleness in this next chapter. I am forever grateful for the imprint he has left on my personal journey, and I will always reflect on him with deep appreciation as someone truly instrumental in my growth as a medium. Thank you, Anthony."

From Jeanna Morgan: "I made an appointment to see Anthony after the death of my husband, we had been married for 30 years and I was devastated, I did not really want my life to continue, I remember visiting Anthony in his house in north London, it felt so easy and comfortable talking to him, I remember his dog barking in the background, he began by talking about and bringing my parents into the room, however he quickly realised that my primary concern was knowing if my husband was ok and (although I was somewhat cynical) of the possibility of an afterlife and us being together again. Anthony was both kind and extraordinary – his knowledge of who my husband was, simple personal things, he could never have imagined or known, gave me the confidence to believe that he had a unique gift and knowledge of his subject. He told me a lot about his childhood, family, both when and how he realised his special gift gave him access to another world - one beyond that which we all inhabit, he also helped me to look forward and navigate a future without my husband and be grateful for what we had both lived and enjoyed. I was sorry to hear about the motor neurone disease, I am sure he will be sorely missed at the College of Psychic Studies, a great Medium and Tutor. I hope the next part of his journey though life will be peaceful - he is someone who deserves and more than most understands what that means."

From Melissa A. Rosati: "Anthony did more than teach me about mediumship. He taught me how to appreciate life in relation to a multi-dimensional world. My life today is richer for it. He's an amazing lightworker."

From Steve Razzell: "I must say, Anthony was the best Mediumship teacher anyone could ever wish for. I was a student of his for two years before I went professional. I'm very sad to hear of the news of his diagnosis however, he has lived an incredible life with the gift that he shared with everybody. Always bringing out the best in each and every one of his students, there is no way I could have gone professional without his teaching. I knew I had to be his student after he brought through my uncle with the most incredible evidence that I could imagine. Enjoy your retirement, Anthony and thank you for everything."

From Raquel Gurman:
"Anthony, it has truly been an honour, first to be your client (and receive the most powerful readings from you) and then your student and to have had the privilege of giving you a reading myself. You have taught me so much over the past 4 years and I wouldn't be where I am today without you. You showed me a world I had no clue about. A world where everything felt calmer and more at ease. Where seeing and hearing made more sense and the tingling feelings had actually resonated. You brought so much light into my life, and taught me to be patient (when I'm the opposite) and to trust myself more. You brought out my inner knowing and I cannot imagine what my life would be like if it weren't for you. Thank you. Thank you for being the honest, caring and open person you are and for believing in me when I didn't believe in myself. You have brought so much clarity and understanding to what mediumship is and have helped so many people, including myself. It is all thanks to you. You have been the most amazing mentor and I will be forever grateful for you. Thank you for showing me the College of Psychic Studies and the world that I now am part of and all of the friends I have made along the way."

From Mark Simons: "I first met Anthony in 2019 when I saw him for a reading. You could say the universe brought Anthony in my life as at the time of my reading I was doing a grounding & protection course at the College of Psychic Studies and did not know Anthony was also a tutor at the College. Without me saying anything Anthony informed me of my spiritual journey and felt I could make a good platform reader and that I was a very good healer. Later that year I signed up for his foundation course, he gave us a exercise: 'Name my father. I will give you a clue it begins with M.' Everyone was saying the traditional names as in Matthew & Mark. I turned to Anthony and said, 'Maurice.' He said, 'That's amazing, in the time of being a tutor at the college only a handful of people have given that name.' Anthony is a very encouraging tutor, but also a great man and I will always remember him as being a real inspiration on my spiritual journey. Wishing you all the best for the future Anthony."

From Safak Ibrahim: "Anthony, in my many years as your student, you were always an amazing and kind teacher. A brilliant, gentle medium with a special gift - that special connection to spirit. Always very accurate with your evidence and messages. A fantastic teacher and role model of how a good medium should be. Both in class and on platform, you were disciplined, dedicated and caring, leading by example, of how a good medium should be, which I remember to follow in every message I give. You gave me the courage, confidence and ability to do platform mediumship. Thank you for being a great medium, teacher, mentor and friend, it was a pleasure. Wishing you all the best."

From Norma Filippini: "When I arranged my first meeting with Anthony, he picked me up from the tube station to take me to his home and took me back again at the end. I was struck by his kindness. This, and the quality of his reading, inspired me to become one of his students. With his knowledge, experience, exceptional skills and guidance I trained for six years and reached advanced level with Anthony. I am indebted to Anthony for shaping me into the medium I am today. He has given me a solid foundation that I will carry with me forever. I know Anthony will be greatly missed. He is an exceptional man and I'm so grateful that he came into my life, I send much love."
