Here in London, we are immersed in a very strong yang, or masculine, energy. The general culture of this vibrant city tends to be driven by a high-octane lifestyle, full of 'upwards and outwards' energy, lots of hustle and bustle, extroversion, even aggression (think rush-hour on the London Underground). It can leave us feeling dehydrated, exhausted and in need of more than just physical nourishment.
In this kundalini yoga day workshop, we balance out this extroverted yang with some introverted, feminine yin.
We will be practicing kriyas (movements), breath work, mantras and meditations to strengthen our nervous system to better assimilate this high-pressured lifestyle. And we will learn kundalini yoga techniques to help protect us, as well as ground us in our quiet centre, enabling us to thrive beautifully, allowing us to keep up with this incredible city.
This workshop is for everyone, regardless of level or ability. All you need to practise is an open mind and willing spirit. You may find some of the movements challenging but always worth your best efforts. There will be chairs available for those who find it uncomfortable sitting on the floor/yoga mat for extended periods of time. Please wear comfy clothes appropriate for movement.
I have worked with many styles of yoga - from Ashtanga to Vinyasa for more than ten years and teach Kundalini and general hatha yoga. When not teaching yoga I write regular magazine features for Om Yoga, Yoga and Everyday Health.
