If you live in a city, there's a strong possibility that you have at some time experienced cold depression. It's a feeling of disconnection from others, a kind of cold indifference as we go about our daily life - no eye contact, not wanting to engage with others, scrolling through Instagram or Facebook... basically what we see on the London Underground!
It's a sense of emptiness, which we try to fill with food or social media or sex or drama or drugs. Cold depression is a reaction to the pressure of our times. There are so many people, so much stimulation, so little space and time, that our nervous system cannot cope.
In this kundalini yoga workshop, we work with cutting the chords of our cold depression. Using movement, mantra and meditation, we strengthen our nervous system and reforge our connection with our inner light and warmth. We are refreshed and rejuvenated to embrace our life anew.
This workshop is for everyone, regardless of level or ability.
All you need to practise is an open mind and willing spirit. You may find some of the movements challenging but always worth your best efforts. There will be chairs available for those who find it uncomfortable sitting on the floor/yoga mat for extended periods of time. Please wear comfy clothes appropriate for movement.
I have worked with many styles of yoga - from Ashtanga to Vinyasa for more than ten years and teach Kundalini and general hatha yoga. When not teaching yoga I write regular magazine features for Om Yoga, Yoga and Everyday Health.
