In this livestream talk, join Tiffany Lazic for a journey through the twelve hours of Ra's nightly sojourn through the realms of the dead, meeting the deities and companions who guide and accompany this dangerous and triumphant passage.

Many are familiar with the Egyptian Book of the Dead (as it was named by Egyptologist E. A. Wallis Budge), the remarkable collection of spells and rituals that served as the guidance for the newly dead. One version, the Amduat ("The Text of the Hidden Chamber of the Underworld") which was available solely to royal personages, told the story of Ra's journey through the night carved onto the walls of pyramids.

Divided into 12 hours, it charts the nightly journey from dusk to dawn through Ra's courageous encounter with darkness, the support he receives from other gods, and the tasks necessary to overcome the darkness in order to emerge triumphant into the light once more. It is a fascinating mythic tale filled to the brim with potent symbolism.

As richly rewarding as it is to explore The Amduat for its symbolic meaning, its true power becomes evident when explored through the lens of the Dark Night of the Soul journey. The steps and stages that are presented in each of the 12 hours can be applied to the psychological tasks necessary to navigate from unconsciousness to consciousness. The monsters encountered in the Underworld reflect the inner demons to be faced. Ra's companions and allies remind us to look to the supports we have around us in our own personal growth journey.

Book now for this introduction to the phenomenal hieroglyphic text of the Amduat, and the reflection on how it can serve as a guide for the inner journey in modern times.
