In this livestream workshop, you will discover the history, mythos and lore of Asclepius and his ancient approach to healing.
Asclepius, the great-grandfather of medicine and very possibly the first psychotherapist, had a unique and effective approach to healing, offered in the over 300 asclepieia (healing centres), which flourished in Greece for an astounding 1,000 years between the 6th century BCE and the 6th century CE: recognizing the power of the liminal to offer healing wisdom.
So important and respected was his approach that asclepian healers were a significant part of the Eleusinian Mysteries.
This online workshop includes:
- An introduction to Asclepius from historical and mythological perspectives
- Key symbols in the asclepian myth
- Ancient concepts of illness and health
- The powerful elements of asclepian dream healing
- A psychospiritual approach to dream interpretation
Though near 1,500 years stands between the closing of the last asclepieion and today, there is much wisdom in their example about the power of liminal spaces to provide healing guidance.

We will not be recording this workshop. One of the unique aspects of the College's online events is that they are highly interactive. Participants are encouraged to discuss and share with the tutor and the group. These sharings can be very personal, and some may not feel comfortable with them being recorded.
