Join John Lockley, traditional Sangoma (African Shaman) from South Africa, as he takes participants on a powerful journey into the animal kingdom.

John uses acoustic instruments like the drum, whistle, rattle as well as his voice chanting in Isixhosa (the language of his apprenticeship) to invoke the spirits of nature.

Our world is out of balance because human beings have forgotten how to connect with nature, in particular the animal world. What is the meaning of a dove's cry and a mosquito's whine? As humans, we need to be custodians of our Mother Earth. To do this effectively we need to learn the language of the animal world.

Participants will learn how to connect to their own ancestors as well as animal spirits and their dreams.

John recently spent six weeks in the Kalahari Desert working alongside Kalahari bushmen trackers. They tracked seven lions on foot, and in their final week they found them. John will regale participants with stories of his encounters with wild animals in South Africa and beyond and share simple teachings on how people can start to learn the language of the animal world.

John says: "Communicating with animals is easy. It starts with our intention and our heart. We send a message of goodwill to them, then we wait, watch and listen". John recalls swimming with a wild dolphin off the West Coast of Ireland using this method.

We will not be recording this workshop. One of the unique aspects of the College's online events is that they are highly interactive. Participants are encouraged to discuss and share with the tutor and the group. These sharings can be very personal, and some may not feel comfortable with them being recorded.
