Join us for an in-person workshop offering a fascinating experiential introduction to automatic art and spirit communication.
Automatic art has long been a bridge between creative practice and the spirit world – a way of setting the conscious mind aside so that something else can come through. Through spontaneous mark-making, this workshop explores how automatic techniques can open genuine channels for connection, communication and healing. It's this blend of artistic play and spiritual depth that makes automatic art such an inviting doorway for anyone curious about mediumship.
What to expect
Come and experiment with the fluidity of watercolour and work with the Surrealist technique of decalcomania, alongside the extraordinary 'rising pictures' method originally developed by Rudolf Steiner. Along the way, you'll draw inspiration from automatic artists and movements including Georgiana Houghton, the Japanese Gutai group, Abstract Expressionism and Ithell Colquhoun's Taro. Movement, meditation and journeying will be woven throughout to support your process of automatic art and spirit connection. Expect a format that's experiential and playful throughout, allowing you to experience and delight in the different energies that want to connect with you.

Meet your tutor, Anji Main
Anji Main MFA is a contemporary abstract painter and artist-medium, whose practice spans painting, painting-based sculpture and performance. She is also a trained naturopath and herbalist, and earlier in her life trained and worked as a dancer and choreographer, a discipline that continues to shape her creative output today. Anji now works as a consulting artist-medium at The College of Psychic Studies, where her practice brings together a three-way conversation between artist-medium, sitter and spirit communicator, producing portraits of those in spirit that are often evidenced against photographs of the person in life.
Previous participants say:
"Anji Main was amazing, I felt completely at ease. She explained what the colours meant and now I have the picture everything she said makes perfect sense. I would recommend Anji 100% to anyone who wants to experience a spirit medium artist. She was brilliant."
