Witch bottles are a way of capturing and directing magical intent, and they've been used for centuries within folk magic traditions for two quite different purposes. Witch jars, on the older protective tradition, are used to deter or send back jinxes and ill wishes – a kind of magical shield. Witch bottles, by contrast, are typically created to manifest something wanted: love, prosperity, or good health. Both work by combining physical ingredients – herbs, charms, rice, salt and sometimes personal items – with a spoken or written intent, then sealing and charging the vessel so it becomes a focused container for that magic. Understanding this distinction, and learning how to charge a bottle properly, allows you to choose and create the right tool for whatever you're hoping to draw into your life or protect yourself from.

What to expect

This is an interactive in-person workshop that invites you into the world of magic and witch bottles. You will learn about the uses for witch bottles and how to create the various types. You will then craft your own intentional witch bottle, charge and activate it, seal it with herbs and charms, and learn what to do next with it. 

This in-person workshop includes:

• The difference between protective witch jars and manifestation-focused witch bottles
• Various ingredients traditionally used in witch bottle magic and what they represent
• How witch bottles can be worn or carried as pendants
• How to determine your own unique intent and devise a spell to match it
• How to charge a witch bottle so it holds and directs magical energy
