The Marseille Tarot is one of the oldest tarot traditions still in use today. The Marseille Tarot's 56 minor arcana cards show simple, repeating suit symbols rather than illustrated narratives of the Rider Waite Smith deck, while its 22 major arcana feature bold, woodcut-style figures that have shaped tarot's visual language ever since. 

Reading with the Marseille deck is therefore a distinctive skill: rather than leaning on a pictured story, readers learn to interpret through numerology, colour, characters and symbol, training a sharper, more attentive eye. Because so many later tarot systems draw on its structure and imagery, learning to read the Marseille deck also deepens a practitioner's understanding of tarot as a whole.

Meet your tutor, Bel Senlle, creator of Claridad (Clarity) Tarot

Bel Senlle is a London-based Argentinian artist, tarot reader and esoteric teacher, and the creator of the Claridad tarot deck (published in English by Watkins and distributed by Penguin Random House). Bel has presented at international tarot and esoteric conferences across Europe and the Americas, and her work explores the intersection of art, ritual and visual magic. With a deep grounding in plant spirit communication and intuitive, alchemical herbalism, Bel brings both artistic sensitivity and practical experience to guiding students into a living relationship with the plant world.
