Transpersonal Psychology & Tarot

This 8-week livestream course approaches the tarot primarily as a tool for personal transformation and self-understanding through the lens of transpersonal psychology, transformational psychology, archetypal psychology and alchemical psychology. 

The wealth of instructive information about the tarot can be overwhelming. Many books offer differing, specific perspectives for analysing meaning contained within tarot imagery. Trying to discern actual meaning from these myriad, varied perspectives can be confusing.

Anchored in the theory that the tarot is the premier system for working with archetypes, this course introduces you to the tarot as a map with which to explore the inner landscape and the realm of soul.

This 8-week online course includes:

• The archetypes of character, archetypes of passage and archetypes of quality in the Major Arcana
• Analysing tarot through the lens of Eastern and Western philosophy

Transpersonal Psychology & Tarot course syllabus

• The Major Arcana through the Archetypes of Character, the Archetypes of Passage, and the Archetypes of Quality, illustrating the fourteen cards which reflect the familiar "hero's journey" and introducing a novel approach to the middle seven cards as the bridge between the Eastern philosophy of transcendence and the Western philosophy of transformation.
• The pip (or numbered) cards of the Minor Arcana. Solidly grounded with Pentacles. Emotional flow with Cups. Soaring perspectives with Swords. Flaming vision with Wands. But, rather than follow the traditional journey through the pips from ace to ten, we start where every psychological healing journey starts – with the crisis represented by the fives – and then follow each of the two possible paths for resolution – from four to ace or from six to ten.
• The Minor Arcana court cards as the 16 Myers Briggs personality types and as psychosynthesis subpersonalities. 
• With all the components in place, you will spend the last part of the course crafting a personal Tarot Autobiography, much in the spirit of Italo Calvino's The Castle of Crossed Destinies.
