It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of former College of Psychic Studies President Stephen Chapman (born 1956) in October 2026.
Stephen served as College President from 2011 to 2017. He carried out his duties with great enthusiasm and dedication and will be deeply missed by the many people who met and knew him.
Our thoughts and love are with his family and friends at this sad time.
Dear Stephen, we are filled with gratitude for your dedicated years of service to the College. Your friendly presence will be missed by all of us at The College of Psychic Studies. Thank you for everything.
College Principal Gill Matini remembers Stephen:
I first met Stephen when we were both College Trustees. He was wonderfully easy to talk to and loved nothing more than a conversation about life and its meaning.
Over the years, we came to know each other well, and our friendship grew. By the time I settled into my role as College Principal, Stephen had retired both from his full-time profession as a lawyer and from his role as College President. Even so, he remained a familiar presence at College events. Afterwards, when everyone else had left, we would sit together in the stillness of the College library with a cup of tea and talk. I will miss his company greatly.
Stephen would also accompany me on trips to buy crystals for the College shop. On every trip, he would announce that this time he would not be buying any crystals for himself, because he already had far too many. Despite this, I cannot remember a single occasion when he left without a piece of citrine, malachite or whatever else he had been drawn to that day. We would always tease him about it, and he would laugh.
These are some of my memories of Stephen, not only as College President but as a dear friend. Stephen loved the College, and that love was evident to everyone who spoke with him. He poured it into his presidency, and he will now be remembered among the roll call of presidents who form part of our history.
