The first in this series of five workshops gives an overview of the body and all its systems, an introduction to the term 'homeostasis' and a focus on the anatomy and physiology of the skeletal and muscular system.
We will also look at how we can 'ground' ourselves through the skeleton and how our musculature holds our personal history.
This series of workshops is an introduction to anatomy and physiology. Links are made between the physical body and our emotional, mental and spiritual selves in order to provide a holistic perspective of the body/mind.
We will look at the basic structure and function of the body systems throughout these workshops. This is aimed to support your healing practice as well as provide you with a common language for communicating with other health professionals. The workshop consists of lectures and anatomical concepts, guided visualisations, self-reflection and experimental exercises (single and paired).
Students attending these workshops should bring their own copy of An Introduction to Anatomy and Physiology text book and writing materials. The text book can be purchased from the College Reception.
As long as I can remember I have been intrigued by the human body, science and the esoteric. It is the nature of the human body to constantly strive for dynamic balance. My experience of working with people of all ages, conditions and abilities supports my belief that by observing and gaining greater awareness of our responses in life we can find a deeper understanding of symptoms and how to support the healing process.
