Carl Jung had a life-long interest in parapsychology and the paranormal. He was descended from a psychic family; indeed, he wrote his doctoral thesis on his cousin, a medium.

He was involved in psychical research with leading figures such as William James in the United States and lectured to the Society for Psychical Research in London. His was not just a research interest, however, spirits, hauntings, precognitive dreams, psychokinesis and other paranormal events were a major part of his life from his earliest years to his death.

In this lecture, we will explore one important strand of Carl Jung's life and work – his engagement with the paranormal. The lecture will enable you to learn more about Jung and will act as a bridge to reading his work.

A Q&A will be held at the end of the lecture.

Information about Carl Jung:

Carl Gustav Jung (1875-1961) is one of the best-known psychologists in the world. His psychological terms, such as extraversion and introversion, have become part of everyday language. His more erudite psychological terms such as synchronicity – those unexpected coincidences that can be life-changing, the collective unconscious – the group psyche of humankind, anima, animus and shadow, have also been major influences on contemporary spirituality.
