The Kabbalah is an ancient system of knowledge about the human soul, the universe, and our relation to the divine. Its insights into inner growth and fulfilment in daily life can prove to be personally relevant on many different levels.
Central to the teachings of Kabbalah is the tree of life. This tree can be seen as a template for the process of creation in the cosmos. An aspect of the tree of life is its twenty-two pathways which became of interest to the early occultists and tarot theorists.
This knowledge was incorporated into tarot with each pathway being linked to a tarot card; twenty two tarot cards in the major arcana, each one corresponding to one of the twenty two pathways of the Tree of Life.
These pathways represent the vital forces of the universe and by working Tarot into this concept not only do we gain greater knowledge of the active archetypes that are present in any given moment but we also deepen our understanding and subsequent relationship to Tarot and connect us to a particular aspect of the soul. The more we study and meditate upon their unique essence, the greater our self- understanding and capacity for growth, joy and inner fulfillment.
