Join Christine on a virtual sacred tour through Southern France, reliving the Pilgrimage she took last year in search of the mystery which is Mary Magdalene. Mary Magdalene is probably one of the best known characters of modern mythology and yet who was she?
Even her name has evoked many scholarly discussions:
- Is Mary her given name or is it a title?
- Is Magdala a place or does it evoke her status in her community; the watchtower of the flock?
Perhaps the answer is to be found in the many identities which have adorned her over the past two millennia. She has been described as the beloved of Yeshua, the mother of his children, a nobleman's daughter, a prostitute, a high priestess, a repentant sinner, princess from a foreign land, a master teacher and one aspect of the archetypal divine feminine.
Perhaps our need to identify Mary Magdalene is our problem, not hers. We like people to fit into convenient understandable boxes; it keeps us safe from a general fear of the unknown, the great mystery itself.
