Carl Jung himself took astrology seriously as a transpersonal system, recognising in the planets and signs the same archetypal patterns that shape our inner lives. The shadow, in Jungian terms, holds everything we have repressed, denied or disowned, and engaging with it is essential for growth, creativity and emotional maturity. When the two are brought together, your birth chart becomes a map of where your shadow lives and how it can be transformed.

What to expect

In this livestream workshop, Tree guides you to use astrology as a tool for shadow exploration and psychological integration, drawing on Jungian psychology, transpersonal theory and astrological archetypes. You will journey through each zodiac sign in both its light and shadow expressions. Rather than reinforcing astrological bias or personality labels, Tree reframes the shadow side of each sign as an opportunity for what she calls 'Astro Alchemy', a process aligned with Jung's concept of individuation, in which unconscious traits are integrated and the shadow is transmuted into its highest archetypal expression. You will also discover which houses and planetary placements are most strongly associated with shadow dynamics, and how working with these areas of your own chart can offer insight into power, desire, fear, repression and transformation.

The day combines teaching with reflective, interactive elements, giving you space to apply what you learn to your own birth chart and leave with practical insight you can continue working with.

Meet your tutor, Tree Carr

Tree is a published author and TEDx speaker whose work bridges transpersonal psychology, consciousness studies and the esoteric arts. She is a graduate of the Alef Trust in their programme for Psychedelics, Altered States & Transpersonal Psychology, giving her a grounded psychological foundation for exploring the unconscious. She teaches at the College of Psychic Studies in London, The Psychedelic Society UK and She's Lost Control, and is a faculty member at The Magickal Path School of Witchcraft in New York. 

Tree has written nine publications, including Conscious Dreamer and A Spell A Day, and has spoken at venues such as The Freud Museum, Tate Modern and the Barbican. As a Psychedelic Therapist, her person-centred approach blends intuitive inquiry, storytelling, meditation, art therapy and creative expression to help clients integrate unconscious material into cohesive wholeness, the very heart of shadow work. Having engaged with mysticism, parapsychology and the mysteries of consciousness since childhood, Tree brings decades of lived experience, scholarship and warmth to every session, making her the perfect guide for this journey into the astrological shadow.

• No astrology knowledge is required, only curiosity, honesty and a willingness to meet yourself more fully.

We will not be recording this workshop. One of the unique aspects of the College's online events is that they are highly interactive. Participants are encouraged to discuss and share with the tutor and the group. These sharings can be very personal, and some may not feel comfortable with them being recorded.
