Protective Magic

This 2-part livestream workshop will teach you all you need to know about protective magic, exploring everything from curses to banishing spells, and working with some unusual materials along the way.

From the evil eye and the curse for barrenness, to love curses and spells that render a man impotent, magical history is full of dastardly curses and counter-curses. This fascinating workshop looks at some of the most popular curses in history and teaches you how to protect against them.

We will explore the various types of protective magic as laid out in the grimoire tradition and how they have evolved into the many forms used today. You will be guided through a few simple protection spells in the tradition of European folk magic. 

This 2-part online workshop includes:

• An introduction to traditional witchcraft and the grimoire traditions
• A traditional salt and water blessing
• What to place in your herb sachet
• How to make a powerful talisman 
• What to do with a witch bottle
• How to cast a protective circle

Optional objects to bring along:

Rebecca will be demonstrating with some fun materials on the day. Sourcing these materials yourself is entirely optional and if you don't source them this won't affect your participation or learning. 

• A clean glass jar (an old jam jar is fine)
• A dish of salt
• A dish of water
• Some air-drying clay and a black permanent marker pen
• A black crystal tumblestone of your choice
• Six nails (picture hanging nails are fine)
• Some of your hair or nail clippings
• Some fresh rosemary
• Some dried chilli
• Some white vinegar
• A notebook and pen for some journaling work

We will not be recording this workshop. One of the unique aspects of the College's online events is that they are highly interactive. Participants are encouraged to discuss and share with the tutor and the group. These sharings can be very personal, and some may not feel comfortable with them being recorded.
