Why should I train as a healer at The College of Psychic Studies?

Our healing diploma has been offered as part of the College programme for more than three decades. It is a highly respected, widely recognised accredited two-year qualification which complies with the UK's National Occupational Standards for Healing and Reiki. But that's not the only reason you should train as a healer with us…

Our reputation

Since its founding in 1884, The College of Psychic Studies has established an impeccable reputation in the study of consciousness and the healing arts. Healing has been offered at the College for over a century, and we have hosted many historically celebrated healers, such as George Spriggs and Robert James Lees.

A spectacular team of tutors

Our healing course tutors are all fully accredited healers with many years of experience and a deep passion for healing. You will also have the opportunity to learn from our guest tutors, all internationally respected experts in their field.

A fully supported journey of self-healing

To work as an effective healer, we must be able to heal ourselves. Integral to our two-year Integrated Healing Course is a comprehensive self-healing and personal-growth programme. This course provides a safe container within which you are encouraged to explore inner experiences. Each trainee receives six hours of one-to-one supervision in which to discuss any issues that arise with case-work or course experiences.

A hands-on, experiential, in-depth course

Our popular online and in-person healing clinics provide a space for you to receive healing and to volunteer and experience first-hand a warm and professional healing environment. Each course is limited to 20 students to ensure everyone receives the necessary support.

We run one College Integrated Healing Diploma Course every year, starting in May.

In order to see if this is the correct path for you, you are required to take our Do You Want to Train as a Healer? workshop.

Applicants with psychic abilities

Healing often opens people to abilities in intuitive areas, and we often have many applicants who state that they have psychic or mediumistic abilities. We must emphasise the importance of keeping healing separate from psychic or mediumistic readings.

  • Connecting psychically to medical problems: it is illegal for the student to tell clients they have sensed something on a medical level. This is clearly stated in the Healing Code of Conduct.
  • Giving readings or messages during healing sessions: this is unacceptable on the CIHD course as the student will not be qualified or insured for this. It is also important to remember that many clients find psychic or mediumistic readings beyond their beliefs and interests.
  • Combining mediumistic and psychic readings with healing when qualified: if after accreditation a student wishes to develop their own healing practice combining healing with a psychic or mediumistic reading, they may practise in this way as long as they are fully and appropriately insured and they name the session appropriately, eg Healing with Psychic Reading and explain clearly what this entails to their client before the consultation.

Please note, this is not a course aimed at the development of mediumistic or psychic abilities for the purpose of giving readings.
